Hello,

My name is Sarah McCarty.

To describe my feelings toward creating art I associate it to the feeling of needing to breath. Breathing is a must to live and so too is my artistic creating… I do it for myself and I do it for others. “Why,” you may ask… because I need to!!!

Creating as McCarty

The challenge of striving for more disrupts my sense of calm and comfort, and has left me feeling lost at times. I paint to pull through; to find that fine balance between aiming high, and feeling confident in myself. My painting process is a self-exploration back to stillness. Rather than abandon faith, I am relearning to have faith in my own experiences.

Birds are intertwined in my thoughts, symbolizing freedom of spirit; they bring me peace of mind when I paint or draw them.

I try to take pause and allow the work to breathe with me, composing each component in relation to the last. Marks overlay marks, movement leads to stillness, and congestion leads to emptiness. As I create these images, I rediscover my own peace and calm.

To Describe Me as a Teacher

I am strict to gain order but so free in my process that Outer Space is my limit! I am ready to welcome a challenge and eager to push a student into their own self-realization. Let’s learn as we go and grow as we learn together. Creating an inquiry based classroom environment that focuses on students as individuals. My classrooms are constantly evolving kinesthetic and constructive organisms with large cross-circular culminating assignments. I use Art as my specific conduit for teaching and always push my learners past their own expectations.

I wish to inspire my students as individuals. I reach all my learners by their strengths where they pertain in Blooms Taxonomy. I am able to create a successful learning environment that acknowledges students strengths, needs and interests; I am organized and experienced in implementing appropriate teaching strategies. Students who feel optimistic about their learning abilities are more likely to have positive learning outcomes. In studying these effects within my different classrooms I am able to more effectively help each individual student.

To Describe Me as a Mother

Open to their sprit I wish to help be their guide in life and love them always. I will never stop learning alongside them and I will always be the last one to give up.

It certainly is a journey and one I’m only starting. I don’t know what is to come but I look ahead with hopeful enthusiasm!

So new to this don’t know what to say as of yet, I’ll fill this out later, hahaha!
